Emerson’s Rosemount® business among Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100 Global Innovators
Program recognizes achievements in innovation through numerous patents and worldwide influence of Rosemount products

CHANHASSEN, MINN (December 6, 2011) -- Emerson Process Management’s Rosemount business unit was named a Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100 Global Innovator SM, recognizing its achievements as one of the world’s most innovative companies. The program, an initiative issued by the IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters, providers of intelligent intellectual property solutions and information, analyzes patent data and related metrics in a proprietary methodology to scientifically identify the most influential organizations globally.

The Thomson Reuters 2011 Top Global Innovators program evaluates innovation performance according to companies that invent on a significant scale, work on developments that are acknowledged as innovative by others around the world, and whose inventions are globally protected due to their importance.

“Being recognized as a Top Global Innovator is truly an honor,” said Tom Moser, president of Rosemount, Inc. “We believe that innovation must deliver customer value to be worthwhile. The true test of being an innovative company is if you’ve been able to help your customers address their challenges in more effective ways than before. That’s what we strive for every day.”

The Rosemount product offering includes a complete line of pressure, temperature, flow, level, and safety measurement instrumentation. Throughout the process industries, Rosemount devices are specified more often than any other brand of process instrumentation.

Thomson Reuters Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPI), Derwent Patents Citations Index™, Quadrilateral Patent Index™, and Thomson Innovation®, the IP and intelligence collaboration platform were used to carefully analyze patent data for the Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100 Global Innovators program. Comparative analysis was done using the Thomson Reuters Eikon platform, the single source for turning financial information into action. Companies do not apply, and winners do not pay, to receive this honor.

“Innovation is a means of growth and prosperity for companies and nations struggling to overcome sluggish economies and achieve competitive advantage,” said David Brown, president of the IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters. “We salute the Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100 Global Innovator companies and their leaders for the innovative spirit they foster and their commitment to protecting intellectual assets.”
