The Model 185 analyzer is intended for the determination of Silica, Sodium, Hydrazine or Phosphate in boiler water, boiler feedwater, demineralized water, and steam condensate.
Simplicity, ease-of-use, and reliable operation characterize the Model 185 Valve-Pump analyzer. Place color-coded reagent straws in color-coded reagent bottles, place the blank and standard straws in the appropriate bottles, and press a button. The analyzer automatically calibrates and puts itself in service. Once in service, the analyzer runs a blank and full scale standard twice a week. An innovative procedure allows the analyzer to readily distinguish between chemical of interest in the reagents and chemical of interest in the blanking water, ensuring accurate reagent blanks for low level determinations.
Routine maintenance is simple. Replace reagents and standards every three months. Replace the valve pump, the key to the reliable performance and low maintenance of the Model 185, every year. Total maintenance time is at most one hour per year.
Using an optional built-in stream selector, the Model 185 can measure as many as six sample streams sequentially. A single analog output is standard. A stream identification marker indicates the start of each new sample. A multiple output option in which a separate analog output is assigned to each sample stream is also available. With the multiple output option each output holds the last value until updated. Ranges: 0-50 ppb, 0-100 ppb, 0-250 ppb, 0-500 ppb, 0-1.0 ppm, 0-2.0 ppm, 0-2.5 ppm, 0-5.0 ppm, 0-10 ppm, and 0-50 ppm Method: Silica is determined colorimetrically as silicomolybdous acid (heteropoly blue method) or as silicomolybdic acid; analytical wavelength and cell path length depend on measurement range. Analyzer measures molybdate-reactive silica only. Sampling Method: Batch; update rate is every 12-20 minutes (depends on application). Precision: ±1% of full scale Detection limit: ±1% of full scale Calibration standards: zero and full-scale standard for each measurement range. Accuracy of full scale standard is ±1%. Automatic calibration: Blank and full scale: every 72 hours, requires about 40 min. Reagent consumption: 5 L of each reagent every 3 months Standard consumption: 1 L of standard and 1 L of baseline solution every three months
