MODEL 499ACL-01 FREE RESIDUAL CHLORINE SENSOR The Model 499ACL-01 is intended for the continuous determination of free chlorine (hypochlorous acid plus hypochlorite ion) in water. The primary application is drinking water.
The 499ACL-01 is a two-electrode, membrane-covered amperometric sensor. Because amperometric free chlorine sensors can measure only hypochlorous acid, many manufacturer use acid pretreatment to convert free chlorine (hypochlorous acid plus hypochlorite ion) into hypochlorous acid. The 499ACL-01 does not require pretreatment. Instead, it uses an auxiliary pH sensor to automatically correct for pH changes. The sensor can measure free chlorine in samples having pH as high as 9.5. pH correction is not required if the pH variability is less than 0.2.
The linear range of the sensor is 0 to 10 ppm.
MODEL 499ACL-02 TOTAL CHLORINE SENSOR
The Model 499ACL-02 sensor is intended for the determination of total chlorine in drinking water and in the effluent from wastewater treatment plants.
The 499ACL-02 sensor does not directly measure total chlorine; it must be used with the Model TCL sample conditioning system. The TCL injects an acidic potassium iodide reagent into the sample, which converts total chlorine into the equivalent amount of iodine. The 499ACL-02 sensor measures the iodine concentration, and the analyzer displays the result as total chlorine.
The 499ACL-02 is a two-electrode, membrane covered sensor. Its linear range is 0 to 20 ppm.
MODEL 499ACL-03 MONOCHLORAMINE SENSOR
The Model 499ACL-03 sensor is intended for the determination of monochloramine in drinking water.
The Model 499ACL-03 is a membrane-covered amperometric sensor. It requires no reagents and has linear range of 0 to 6 ppm. FREE CHLORINE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS Range: 0 to 10 ppm (mg/L) as Cl2. For higher ranges, consult the factory. Wetted Parts: Noryl, Viton, silicone, platinum, and polyethersulfone. Accuracy: Accuracy depends on the accuracy of the chemical test used to calibrate the sensor. pH range: 6.0 to 9.5. For samples having pH between 9.5 and 10.0, consult the factory. Samples with pH below 6.0 require no pH correction. pH correction: Use continuous pH correction (requires an auxiliary pH sensor) if sample pH varies more than 0.2 pH (peak-to-peak). If pH variability is less or seasonal, the pH sensor is generally not required. Sample conductivity: >50 μS/cm. Response time: 22 sec to 95% of final reading at 25°C Pressure: 0 to 65 psig (0 to 549 kPa abs) Temperature: 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) Sample Flow: Flow through 1-5 gpm (3.8 to 19 L/min) Open channel 1 ft/sec (0.3 m/sec) Low flow cell (PN 24091-00) 8 to 15 gph (30 to 57 L/hr) Low flow cell (PN 24091-01) 2 to 5 gph (8 to 19 L/hr) Process Connection: 1" MNPT Electrolyte Volume: 25 mL (approx.) Electrolyte Life: 3 months (approx.); for best results, replace electrolyte monthly Cable Length: (std integral) 25 ft (7.6 m); (max) 300 ft (91 m) Weight/Shipping Weight: 1 lb/3 lb (0.5 kg/1.5 kg)
MONOCHLORAMINE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS Linear Range: 0 - 15 ppm (mg/L) Wetted Parts: Noryl, Viton, silicone, wood, Zitex (PTFE) Cathode: gold mesh Accuracy: Accuracy depends on the accuracy of the laboratory method used to calibrate the sensor. Linearity: 2% (typ.) pH range: Response is practically independent of pH between pH 7.0 and 10.0. Sensor current at pH 10.0 is within 5% of sensor current at pH 7.0. Sample Conductivity: >10 μS/cm at 25°C Response time: <30 sec to 90% of final reading (0 to 2 ppm) at 25°C. Drift: <2% of reading per week Back Pressure: 0 psig (101 kPa abs). Sample must drain to atmosphere Temperature: 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) Process Connection: 1 inch MNPT Electrolyte Volume: 25 mL (approx.) Electrolyte Life: approx. 3 months Cable Length: (std integral) 25 ft (7.6 m); (max) 300 ft (91 m) Sample Flow: Low flow cell: 1 to 4 gal/hr (4 to 15 L/hr) Open channel: minimum 0.2 ft/sec (0.06 m/sec) Weight/Shipping Weight: 1 lb/3 lb (0.5 kg/1.5 kg)
