Shipping Procedures for Lithium Batteries
The wireless transmitter is powered by a battery pack containing two C-size thionyl chloride lithium cells. Each cell contains approximately 2.5 grams of lithium, for a total of 5 grams in each pack. Due to lithium content, the battery pack is considered a hazardous material or dangerous good by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The batteries are shipped separately from the transmitter and will arrive at your location in a box marked and labeled as shown.
In addition, a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the batteries in the packs will be sent to you before or at the time of shipment. If you have not received a MSDS or have misplaced it, you can download a copy by clicking here.
Management of spent battery packs
Due to the battery chemistry, special precautions may need to be taken in storing and disposing of the spent battery packs. Please consult you company’s waste management policies and practices, as well as, any applicable regulation to identify the proper management method for the spent batteries.
