The origins of the company go back to 1908 when the founder, Ronald Trist, spotted the need for automatic level controls on boilers. By 1911 he had developed and patented the Thermofeed regulator, which was manufactured at the Mobrey site in Slough up until 1991.
In 1947, the Chief Engineer of the company, Leonard Bomyer, designed a magnetic level switch based on a patent licensed from the KDG Company. Named the ‘Mobrey’ - an anagram of the designer’s name – the switch was to become a staple instrument of level monitoring and control throughout the world, and is still widely used today, over 60 years on.
The company was acquired by Emerson in 2005.
