Hytork (TA) Tunnel Application Actuator

Emerson’s (TA) Tunnel Application actuator, by Hytork, offers a high performance

rack and pinion actuator specifically designed and tested to operate successfully in temperatures of up to 250 deg C for a minimum of two hours without failure.

These actuators are designed for use in tunnel transit air applications that require dampers to either allow or prevent air from passing through.

PRODUCT DETAILS

The actuator is equipped with special seals, bearings and grease to accommodate these higher than normal temperatures. Under normal conditions the actuator functions as a standard Spring Return actuator and in the case of a fire the actuator will be able to function a number of times under the below mentioned conditions.

HYTORK (TA) actuators can be fitted to a range of custom fabricated dampers to enable critical safety related functions as follows;

Pressure Equalization

Dampers mounted in the side of a tunnel that vent pressurized air in front of a moving vehicle and reintroduce it as the vehicle passes. In single track tunnels, this volume of air can often be significantly heated in cases of fire.

Portal Intake and Exhaust

Dampers at tunnel ends control air intake and emergency smoke exhaust in long tunnels without intermediate air supplies.

Emergency Fire and Smoke Control

Dampers with HYTORK (TA) actuators can be spaced along the tunnel and remotely controlled to either;

(1) Pressurize a tunnel section to allow safe exit of trains, cars or passengers to a local escape tunnel, while blowing fire and smoke from this area and

(2) Create negative pressure in the area of the fire to prevent smoke and gases from spreading from the fire.
