Course WSU - 8.7

Overview

This 3-week course presents the general use and functions of various drops in the WDPF
system and is for the engineer who is responsible for the generation and modification of WDPF WEStation application programs.  The Software Server and Engineer Workstation (EWS) will be used to build process diagrams, database, and modulating and digital control.  The student will build all programs necessary to implement and control a simulated or actual process. This course may also be taken in place of the WSM 8.6 (WEStation Software Maintenance) course as a prerequisite to the WHM-8.6 (WEStation Hardware Maintenance) course.

Prerequisites

A basic background in modulating and logic control and in digital computer techniques is recommended.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Use the WEStation Operator Station to monitor and control process variables
• Use the WEStation Software Server and Engineer Workstation to perform all basic engineering functions
• Navigate the file structure and sign out and edit text files
• Create and modify custom graphics
• Create a DPU database
• Manage the system point directory
• Create and modify DPU control programs
• Link control schemes to custom graphics
• Create and modify custom menus
• Modify and maintain project files for the system
• Download configured software to applicable drops
