Flexibility to Meet Your Project Needs

The unique modular, distributed architecture enables the DeltaV SIS system to be custom fit for SIS applications. Modularity delivers the capability to meet changing project requirements. The DeltaV SIS architecture is flexible to provide the safety you want, when you want, where you want.

Whether you have an isolated boiler or a large ESD application, the DeltaV SIS system scales to provide you the safety coverage you require for your SIL 1, 2, and 3 applications Unlike other approahes, the modular logic solver hardware scales in sizes of 16 configurable I/O, so you automatically add memory and CPU every time you add a logic solver. The days of running out of memory or CPU power are over.

The architecture of the DeltaV SIS system allows you to concentrate on the design of each safety instrumented function (SIF). Each logic solver is a container for a small number of SIFs and there can be no unplanned interaction between them. This is very different from the traditional approach where hundreds of SIFs are all placed in a single safety PLC and the effect of changing a single register could effect all of the logic. DeltaV SIS scales as the number of SIFs scales - simply add logic solvers to contain more safety functions with no impact on the performance of the existing system. In a large plant, these logic solvers can be placed in nodes close to the process unit being protected; an intuitive design with fewer opportunities for maintenance errors and the added advantage of wiring savings.

Given this scalability, the DeltaV SIS system is ideally suited for all safety applications up to SIL3; from small burner managment applications to large ESD and fire & gas applications.
