Safety standards insist on separation of the control system and safety systems in order to remove any possibility of a common failure affecting both layers of protection. End users require an integrated configuration, maintenance, and operations environment for easy access to all safety-related information. The DeltaV SIS system provides an integrated but separate architecture to meets IEC61511 requirements for physical separation and independence of safety and control. The system also provides integration with the DeltaV system's operations, enginering, maintenance environment. Other control systems or applications can be easily integrated using OPC or Modbus.
