Exact measurement of liquid flow requires on-site meter calibration with liquid at operating conditions. Pipe provers from Daniel perform that important task, calibrating turbine, positive displacement and Coriolis meters in the field.
Daniel pipe provers automatically record flow meter output during displacement of metered flow through the prover’s known volume. The comparison of meter output to the known volume establishes meter calibration factor. Applying Meter Factor - the number that corrects a meter’s inaccuracy -- results in more precise volume measurement for applications that include custody transfer and fiscal measurement. Pipe provers offer the advantage of continuous flow through the meter being calibrated.
Daniel provides pipe provers with 4 to 42-inch measuring sections, flow rates from 100 bph to 42,000 bph (15.89 m3/hr to 6.674 m3/hr) and suitable for temperatures from -50ºF to 190ºF. These provers are ball type bi-directional, as well as uni-directional and piston-type for low temperature. Bi-directional provers offer long-term reliability with minimum maintenance. Uni-directional provers flow continuously with minimum pressure loss. These prover designs comply with the recommendations of API Chapter 4 and individual application specifications.
