Our technologies and expertise result in first-of-a-kind provers
With an installed base of well over 2,800 metering systems and 1,100 provers around the world, Daniel understands that each metering system requires a custom made approach to liquid flow meter calibration. From concept and design, through fabrication, commissioning and start-up, Daniel delivers proving solutions with pipe provers and compact provers manufactured to global standards for all of today’s flow measurement challenges.
From low pressure (150# ANSI) to high pressure (1500# ANSI) operations, and from NACE certified materials, to high temperature applications--all aspects of proving requirements are taken into consideration to engineer an accurate and repeatable proving solution. So whatever your next challenge is, Daniel's global custody transfer expertise will help unlock your growth opportunities.

Highest temperature small volume prover in the world
Daniel is the only company in the world providing a high temperature small volume proving solution for operation up to 260º C (500ºF). In a recent project, Daniel designed a 12” prover for a leading refinery in
Thailand
to prove custody transfer of heavy vacuum oil.
This prover will be used for proving Coriolis mass flow meters and will be integrated horizontally into a metering skid. Daniel Compact Prover meets the most stringent accuracy requirements of custody transfer meter proving or laboratory flow meter calibrations. Low pressure drop, smooth operation, turndown flow range (rangeability) ratio of 1000:1 and the highest accuracy makes Daniel flow Compact Prover the best choice for proving all meter types including coriolis mass meters, turbines, ultrasonic, vortex, magnetic and positive displacement (PD) using either the upstream or downstream volume.
The rugged and reliable construction of Daniel Compact Prover is ideal for portable or stationary applications which range from load rack, crude and refined product pipelines and marine terminals to offshore platforms and FPSOs.
Largest portable prover in North America
Daniel delivered a 34” Compact Prover to C&W Meter, a company that provides proving services to truck loading, pipeline, and custody transfer meters for major oil companies throughout the Northeastern US. C&W Meter uses this trailer mounted 34" Daniel Compact Prover for large size meters on various pipelines. This application is believed to be the largest portable prover in
North America

Best practices for successful proving
In custody transfer or allocation measurement applications, it is common practice to periodically prove liquid meters in the field. This is done to reduce uncertainty and maintain accuracy for fiscal measurement, establish meter factors at working conditions and determine meter factors for different fluids. The measurement application or the customer contract generally determines the frequency at which it is proved.
This article highlights the requirements for successful proving, types of provers, the importance of meter characteristics in developing a proving methodology and how proving volume has a direct impact on repeatability.
