Fundamentals of Vibration - Course 2069

This 2-day course was designed for those who have had no prior experience in vibration. Participants will learn about causes of vibration and methods of measurement in preparation for the Basic Vibration Analysis. Fundamentals of Vibration may be taken in conjunction with Fundamentals of the 2120 (ATC-2071) or Fundamentals of the 2130 (ATC-2072).

Overview: From the foundation of vibration technology and what makes it useful, to the anatomy of a quality vibration analysis measurement, this class covers knowledge important to anyone participating in a vibration analysis program. Emerson's CSI products will be used in hands-on exercises to demonstrate the significance of the vibration signal and its role in a predictive maintenance program. Although the course does not provide instruction on CSI products, the class uses them to demonstrate vibration principles. If the student desires hands-on analyzer training in addition to learning some of the basics of vibration, then Emerson recommends either adding one of the other Fundamentals classes described above or the Basic Vibration Analysis class.

Topics include:
  • Introduction to vibration
  • Components of a predictive maintenance program
  • Basic fault identification
  • Keys to a successful vibration program
  • Fault characteristics and patterns
