Mobrey Open Channel Flow Measurement System
Mobrey MCU/MSP ultrasonic level measurement and control systems for level and flow applications have a long and successful history in open channel flow measurement and logging. The MCU90F is the latest addition to this family and is a dedicated open channel flow meter and control unit based upon the highly successful MCULOG.
A Mobrey open channel flow measurement system comprises an MCU90F control unit and a 4-20mA, HART loop powered MSP900 series ultrasonic level transmitter. A 9700 hydrostatic electronic level transmitter may also be used.
The MCU90F has an integral programming keypad which eliminates the need for a handheld programmer. The MCU90F communicates digitally with the MSP900 series transmitter to give improved resolution and accuracy and is available in wall or panel

The flow in an open channel may be derived by measuring the liquid level of a weir or flume of a standard design:
