Digital Communications Protocols
Regardless of what host you are planning to use, Micro Motion offers many digital communications protocols to suit your needs.
Although many customers use traditional I/O like 4-20 milliamp outputs and frequency outputs, there is a growing desire to use more digital communications especially for field devices that offer multiple process variable information like Coriolis flow meters. There are many kinds of fieldbuses (or two-way communication links between controllers and field devices) available on the market today. Each varies as far as how fast the communications take place and the structure of the data, but they all allow the user to get more information from the field device than by using traditional I/O signals.
