Built-In IEC61511 Compliance
Simplified Safety Lifecycle Management

DeltaV SIS has been designed to enable end users to easily comply with the IEC61511 international standard. DeltaV SIS helps to automatically document and simplify your compliance with IEC standard, along with additional regulatory requirements specific to your operation location. Not only will the upfront costs of engineering, installing and commissioning your system be lower, but so will the ongoing maintenance and management costs to satisfy your safety and regulatory requirements.

A standards-based approach makes the configuration environment of the DeltaV SIS unique. Certified to comply with IEC61508, the safety function blocks are designed to make the implementation and management of the safety logic both intuitive and easy. For example, voter blocks provide advanced features like built-in bypasses and deviation alarms to improve plant availability. The voting is configured using radio buttons and check-boxes, with extensible blocks ensuring the same approach is taken throughout the configuration, regardless of the size of the application.

DeltaV SIS provides stringent change management functionality to automate your IEC61511 compliance. All changes to the DeltaV SIS logic are recorded, showing the nature of the change, who made it, and when it was changed. Personnel qualifications can be verified before changes are authorized, ensuring proper modifications and reviews are made by the right people. The intuitive “drag and drop” is the same as the BPCS , thus ensuring that personnel can make needed changes over time without extensive retraining. In addition, AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager software documents and archives instrument configurations and changes,  along with health information and alarms.

As a smart solution, DeltaV SIS continuously monitors the sensors, logic solvers, and final elements’ ability to perform on demand and diagnoses faults before they cause spurious trips.  Additionally, DeltaV SIS provides tools such as partial stroke testing of valves to ensure proper performance.
