DeltaV Version 4.2 

Advanced Control

  • Improved Simulation. DeltaV Simulate lets you configure all DeltaV features on your laptop or office PC. DeltaV Simulate provides a complete engineering environment including a virtual controller to check out control strategies, displays, dynamos, alarms, and other operator functions without DeltaV hardware.
  • Enhanced Troubleshooting. You can now automatically launch DeltaV Inspect to quickly pinpoint problem loops and field devices.

 I/O, Busses

  • FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus H1 I/O Carrier. Now you can easily add standard discrete I/O to your FOUNDATION™ fieldbus segment. Each carrier supports one DI and one DO card in an optional rugged field enclosure.*
  • Improved FOUNDATION Fieldbus Security. Backup link active scheduling is now available in either the RMT 3051 pressure or the 3244 temperature transmitters.
  • FOUNDATION Fieldbus Device Scalability. You can now buy fieldbus devices at scalable prices based on the function block set you buy.
  • Easy FOUNDATION Fieldbus Device Upgrades. You can now upgrade or downgrade same manufacturer fieldbus device revisions. And you can change the device from one manufacturer to another, like from SMAR to Rosemount.
  • Expanding FOUNDATION Fieldbus Interoperability. We have completed tests with Yokogawa DP and Vortex transmitters in our FOUNDATION fieldbus interoperability testing lab. Additional devices supported include: Rosemount Analytical 4081-pH meter, Micro Motion 5300 flow meter, Rosemount Analytical 5000 Oxymitter, Rosemount 8800 vortex flow meter, and some SMAR devices.
  • Low-cost, High-density Discretes. DI 32-channel 24VDC Dry Contact and a DO 32-channel 24VDC High Side are now available for a low-cost solution. Class 1 Div 2 and Zone 2 approvals for these cards are pending agency approval.

Batch

  • Increased Performance. Increased DeltaV Batch performance comes with the 4.2 release. In addition to the improved recipe editing, performance enhancements include:
    • 90% reduction in the time to assign areas
    • 75% reduction in downloading unit module
    • 95% reduction in saving phase classes.
  • Improved Batch Historian Database. Look under the hood of the DeltaV version 4.2's Batch Historian, and you'll find a Microsoft SQL engine. This engine effortlessly serves multiple clients and greatly improves performance. Migration to MS SQL also provides improved security by monitoring which users have access to view and/or manage electronic batch records. The Batch Historian Administrator's Interface is now easier with a common Windows look and feel.
  • MS Word-based Reports. A new Microsoft Word-based Batch Report is available, using Microsoft's VBA to generate a report with process related alarms, events, and trends. You can easily customize these reports for your specific needs.
  • More Batch Operator Interface Information. The Batch Operator Interface's View As PFC (Procedural Function Chart) display now supports the ability to show comments and boxes configured within Recipe Studio. You can also choose to display the 'description' of a step as an alternative to its name, and to display the 'description' or 'name' of a transition as an alternative to its condition expression.
  • DeltaV Batch in Language Versions. DeltaV Batch capability, including Batch Executive, Batch Operator Interface, Batch Historian, and Batch History View, has been added to the DeltaV system --in all languages-- in the 4.2 release.

Operations

  • Extended Diagnostics. Release 4.2 extends the DeltaV system's diagnostics to include the Marathon fault-tolerant system. Equipment failures in these redundant workstations are reported in the same fashion as I/O failures for easy problem recognition and resolution.

Integration and Communications

  • OPC Mirror. With OPC Mirror, you can connect all your OPC servers and transfer data between them simultaneously. Because it runs on any Windows NT machine, it's the perfect tool to integrate your OPC-compliant systems -- easy. Simply drag and drop to map data values from one server to another. The OPC Mirror is available on 'The Collection' CD from Fisher-Rosemount.
  • OPC Pager. By monitoring data available from your OPC server, Fisher-Rosemount's OPC Pager acts as your constant watchdog, keeping an eye on your critical values and notifying you when they meet your alert criteria. Works with any alphanumeric pager that uses the TAP communication standard. The OPC Pager is available on Fisher-Rosemount's 'The Collection' CD.
  • Additional Control Network Options. We've added network hardware options to provide greater installation flexibility for your large systems, with the addition of 100Mb fiber optic hubs, 10/100Mb copper switches, and 100Mb fiber switches.

Workstations

Continuing our pledge to provide you with enhanced performance at a lower price, we've added the Dell 6300 server and Dell WS410 performance workstation to the lineup of supported workstations.

Languages

The DeltaV version 4.2 software will soon be available in French, German, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.*
