Release Details
DeltaV Version 4.1

System

  • System Size Increase. Now DeltaV can handle any size project you've got. Node count has grown nearly 90% from 32 up to 60 nodes, and total system capacity is up 200% to 15,000 DSTs. And our next growth spurt will knock your socks off!

Operations

  • Alarm Enhancements. More flexibility and focus than ever in alarm management and history collection -- in up to 100 areas. Turn alarm filtering on or off from a new security-controlled, pre-engineered alarm filtering display. Count all unacknowledged and active alarms for an area on the alarm filtering display.
  • Dual Monitor. Talk about viewing convenience! See more of the process in greater dimension and detail. Get the big picture of your plant operation on one screen; zero in on specifics on the other. Watch a process area on one screen, while managing the alarms on the other.
  • Touch Screens. Operator functions you would typically perform with a mouse, you can now perform with a touch to a 21" monitor -- even on dual monitor workstations. Use intuitive finger touch to access the process control system to answer alarm conditions, call up displays and to make process changes using existing displays and faceplates.
  • Multiple Faceplates. View and adjust multiple tags to interact with each other on screen. "Push pin" feature lets you keep an eye on selected tags while you search and review other plant areas. Great for those cascaded and feed-forward control loops.
  • 1280 x1024 Graphics Resolution. More pixel power automatically adjusts the display layout so the interface opens full screen -- even for increased resolution monitors. Or use the new default display option in Graphics Studio for increased resolution on your process graphics without increasing the resolution of your alarm banner and toolbar.

Engineering

  • More Field Device Function Blocks. We've added more FOUNDATION™ fieldbus function blocks so you can do more with your smart field devices.
  • Bulk Edit Field Device Support And Enhanced Performance. Big new performance benefits! Improved user-defined control module export performance makes configurations easier, quicker than ever. New user-defined imports let you specify function block usage names in fieldbus devices, and to bind shadow blocks to field blocks in control modules. It all means greater control over the fieldbus configuration phase.
  • Comparator Block. Comparing values was never so easy. Use it to replace the Condition block to evaluate single comparisons. Reduces CPU loading and makes your control strategy easy to read.
  • Arithmetic Block. Provides powerful, flexible, easy configuration of arithmetic functions, including flow and level compensation.
  • Engineering Tool Performance. Got the need for speed? We've increased your productivity by speeding up tasks. Bulk edit import/export and controller downloads are now twice as fast, Recipe Studio three times faster, and a whopping 150x speed increase for tag verification. Plus acceleration for most batch-related configuration and operation tasks.

Controller, I/O, Field Device

  • Intrinsically Safe I/O. Delivers an integrated solution for intrinsically safe analog input HART®, analog output, discrete input, and discrete output DeltaV I/O. No need for IS barriers or marshalling panels, so you reduce equipment cost and footprint. Capable of withstanding Class I, Division 2, IEC Zone 2 environmental conditions. IS field circuits and field devices can be located in Class I, Division 1, Zone 1, and Zone 0 hazardous areas.
  • SMAR Devices Pass The DeltaV Stress Test. Your freedom to choose among varying field device suppliers is growing daily, as Fisher-Rosemount's fieldbus lab continues testing. Here are the latest SMAR fieldbus devices tested and approved for the DeltaV host system:
    • Smar Intl LD-302 Pressure
    • Smar Intl TT-302 Temperature
    • Smar Intl IF-302 Current to FB Converter
    • Smar Intl FI-302 FB to Current Converter
    • Smar Intl FP-302 FB to Air Pressure Converter
    • Smar Intl FY-302 FB to Position.

  • Generic Device Support. In addition to those devices in the DeltaV fieldbus device library, any FOUNDATION™ fieldbus compliant device, regardless of manufacturer, can be recognized by the DeltaV system. A note of caution: many fieldbus devices suppliers are in early stages of development. We recommend the selection of suppliers of devices which have passed the DeltaV stress test.
  • Backup LAS. More security; more peace of mind. With Backup Link Active Scheduling (LAS), field devices continue executing control strategies even if the H1 FOUNDATION™ fieldbus card fails.
  • Rosemount's 8742C Magnetic Flow Meter.
Fisher-Rosemount's fieldbus testing lab has added this device to an ever-expanding library of fully tested fieldbus devices for the DeltaV host system.
  • Expanded Controller. A 33% increase -- up to 64 I/O cards may be included per DeltaV controller, and it supports a full range of analog (with and without HART) and discrete card types. This increase is available for both vertical and horizontal mount carriers and is applicable for both M3 and M5 controllers!

Enterprise Connectivity

  • DeltaV WebServer. View your plant process graphics in any standard web browser from anywhere in the world -- even from home in real-time. You can also view historical information using the trend application and see it update in real-time, along with process alarms and events generated by the plant.
  • OPC 2.0 Server. Lets you develop industrial-strength clients more easily, and leverage today's Microsoft COM technologies. Revolutionary OPC automation interface enhancements let you use Microsoft Office applications as direct OPC clients -- easy.

Batch

  • DeltaV Batch Aliasing. Simplifies implementation, testing, validation and maintenance with unit relative equipment, phase logic, and recipe logic. Developing unit relative equipment strategies has never been easier. With DeltaV aliasing capabilities, there's less software to design, implement, test, validate and maintain. Result: reduced initial project and long-term support costs -- for a better bottom line!
  • Dynamic Referencing. Provides even more flexibility by allowing parameter reference paths to be decided at run time as part of the SFC, phase logic or function blocks.
  • Better Batch Security. The Batch Executive now runs as an NT service for more reliability (continues to run even if you log off). Interlopers can't modify or shut down the batch without proper privileges and security access.

Advanced Control

  • DeltaV Inspect. The key to sustained performance, DeltaV Inspect identifies abnormal conditions in field devices and control loops sooner -- for performance audit savings, reduced production loss and off-spec product. No configuration required. Inspect automatically adapts as you add control modules.
